July 2014 Group alumnus Dr. Emre Yüce gives an Optoelectronics and Photonics Engineering seminar entitled "All optical switching of a microcavity repeated at THz rates" on July 2, 2014 Tuesday. Emre Yüce worked on “Electro-optical modulation of silicon microspheres” during his Master degree at Koç University in Turkey. After that he moved to University of Twente in The Netherlands for his PhD degree. He completed his PhD work titled “Ultimate-fast all-optical switching of microcavities” at Complex Photonic Systems (COPS) group in 2013. He and his colleagues demonstrated first switching of a microcavity, operating at telecom region, using the electronic Kerr effect at THz clock rates. He is now a postdoctoral fellow at COPS group and working on programmable photonic circuits.
