March 2016 Group alumnus Dr. Emre Yüce joins his Alma Mater, Middle East Technical University (METU), Physics Department as Assistant Professor of Physics. Emre worked on “Electro-optical modulation of silicon microspheres” during his MS degree with our group. Afterwards, he moved to University of Twente for his PhD degree, which he completed in 2013 with his work on “Ultimate-fast all-optical switching of microcavities” at Complex Photonic Systems (COPS) group. He and his colleagues demonstrated first switching of a microcavity, operating at telecom region, using the electronic Kerr effect at THz clock rates. He stayed on as a postdoctoral fellow at COPS and worked on programmable photonic circuits, before joining METU. We wish him all the success in the world in his new position at METU.
