March 2016 Group alumnus Dr. Mohammed Sharif Murib joins Gent University / IMEC Department of Information Technology INTEC as a Postdoctoral Research Associate. Mohammed worked on “High Q-factor Optical Resonances in the Elastic Scattering from Silicon Microspheres” during his MS degree with our group. Afterwards, he moved to University of Hasselt for his PhD degree, which he completed in 2014 with his work on “Biosensors for the characterization of DNA molecules based on electronic-, thermal-, and photonic sensing principles” in the group of Professor Patrick Wagner. He and his colleagues demonstrated first electronic-, thermal-, and photonic biosensing on sapphire surfaces. Later he taught Physics and Optics at the American University of the Middle East in Kuwait working as an Assistant Professor of Physics, before joining Gent University / IMEC. We wish him all the success in the world in his new position at Gent.
